The Second Annual Jim Mora• Pulte Homes Celebrity Golf Classic held on June 5, 2006 at the Tournament Players Club at Sugarloaf, in Duluth, Georgia raised over $400,000 for local charities. The tournament, which was sold out for the second year in a row, was proud to have once again selected Special Olympics Georgia(SOGA), as one of it's charity benefactors, as well as the newly-created Jim Mora Count On Me Family Foundation.
One hundred and seventy golfers participated in the tournament, playing all three courses (27 holes) at TPC Sugarloaf. Each participant enjoyed breakfast at the club, the putting contest, 18 holes on the course, lunch on the course, courtesy of Stoney River Restaurant, Antiqua Tex-Mex Restaurant and Outback Steakhouse, and an invitation to the post event reception. There were nineteen special contests out on the courses, where one winner per foursome was the surprise twist, including longest and straightest drive contests, closest to the pin contests and six hole-in-one contests, click here to see winners of this year's contests, but the most-talked about contest was the Car Contest Shootout. The winner of this year’s second annual shootout was Jim Devaney, who was playing for the Integrated Excellence team. Devaney drove home in a 2006 Ford Fusion, courtesy of Atlanta Area Ford Stores. The Ike Reese/Heineken Team was the champion team each awarded an etched Tiffany crystal bowl courtesy of Tiffany & Co and two airline tickets courtesy of Airtran Airways. |

Celebrities participating in the event included: Atlanta Falcons Players Michael Vick, Matt Schaub, Keith Brooking, Warrick Dunn, Patrick Kerney, DeAngelo Hall, Brian Finneran, Ike Reese, Fred McCrary, Derek Rackley, Michael Jenkins; as well as other celebrities including: ESPN’s Chris Mortenson, NFL Network’s Jay Glazer; former NFL greats Terrell Davis, Rodney Harrison, Ashley Ambrose, Steve Bartkowski, and Morten Andersen; legendary NFL Coaches Steve Mariucci and Jim Mora, Sr.; Atlanta Thrashers’ Head Coach Bob Hartley and Captain Scott Melanby, and Major League Baseball’s Hall of Famer Phil Niekro. click here for the full celebrity list
The live and silent auctions featured trips to Super Bowl XLI in Miami, Florida, and the 2007 Pro Bowl in Hawaii, as well as a Falcons Fly Away trip to New Orleans, a behind the scenes at NFL Network “NFL Game Day, special VIP packages to Las Vegas, NAPA Valley and Vail, Colorado. The auction also offered unique sports memorabilia including: a Boxing Glove signed by Muhammad Ali, an autographed yellow “Livestrong” jersey from Lance Armstrong, a Royal St. Andrews 2000 British Open Championship Pin Flag signed by Tiger Woods, and a one-of-a-kind Vince Lombardi framed Game Day Program and hand written game plan crafted when he was a young assistant coach. Bidders at the event helped raised over $90,000 in the auctions this year.
